In my case the workaround is to use a separate router running OpenWRT to
manage the PPPoE connection. The fact that workarounds exist doesn't
change the fact it's a valid bug, albeit one that's very difficult to fix
given the current architecture of pppd.
Well, the patch is simple enough really.
The sad thing is that everyone has tons of patches for ppp. I for
one have several bugfixes (which actually hit me) since 2003, and
6 years later the bugs are still unfixed.
