Hi again,
I still can reproduce this bug (for Prabhu: you may re-read the full
bug log at http://bugs.debian.org/525575 which was already forwarded to
you) with mayavi2/3.3.0-1

The behavior is now slightly different:

  $ mayavi2 -d /usr/share/doc/mayavi2/examples/mayavi/data/heart.vtk \
    > tmp/mayavi2.out 2> tmp/mayavi2.err

The main window shows up.

  * select Add module or filter in the Mayavi pane
  * from the Mayavi object editor, select the Processing filters tab
    and double-click on Extract Grid

The mouse arrow stays as usual (no forever-waiting-symbol behavior),
but I nonetheless get a very similar mayavi2.err full of error messages.
You should find this file attached to this message.

I am convinced that the traceback indicates that there's something
wrong in mayavi2 (or, maybe, in some used library...).

Prabhu, is there any progress on this bug?
Can you reproduce it?
Any idea on how to fix it?

Thanks for your time.
