Hi again, I still can reproduce this bug (for Prabhu: you may re-read the full bug log at http://bugs.debian.org/525575 which was already forwarded to you) with mayavi2/3.3.0-1 The behavior is now slightly different: $ mayavi2 -d /usr/share/doc/mayavi2/examples/mayavi/data/heart.vtk \ > tmp/mayavi2.out 2> tmp/mayavi2.err The main window shows up. * select Add module or filter in the Mayavi pane * from the Mayavi object editor, select the Processing filters tab and double-click on Extract Grid The mouse arrow stays as usual (no forever-waiting-symbol behavior), but I nonetheless get a very similar mayavi2.err full of error messages. You should find this file attached to this message. I am convinced that the traceback indicates that there's something wrong in mayavi2 (or, maybe, in some used library...).
