Hello,
I'm setting the bug severity as Important (though to me it's Grave because I
cannot use my favorite editor at all) because I think the problem is not in
emacs but in some other part of the system (otherwise this bug would have been
filled in a long time ago). I'd appreciate some help in diagnosing it, though.
The symptoms:

Log obtained by running through strace attached. I'll be glad to provide any
help required in order to reproduce and fix this.
