Package: pcscd Version: 1.5.5-1 I installed pcscd and it created a symlink /etc/rc2.d/S20pcscd. However on my system hal is started as S24:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 2007-12-12 21:37 /etc/rc2.d/S24hal -> ../init.d/hal I have no memory of changing the runlevel for hal, so I assume it is the default? Or was, when I installed my laptop. Because hal is not started, pcscd has problems starting: Oct 6 19:41:15 mocca pcscd: hotplug_libhal.c:562:HPRegisterForHotplugEvents() Could not initialise connection to hald. Oct 6 19:41:16 mocca pcscd: hotplug_libhal.c:563:HPRegisterForHotplugEvents() Normally this means the HAL daemon (hald) is not running or not ready.
