Hi,

please see the following demonstrating shell session:

zorro[~]$ echo sehr gewöhnlich
sehr gewöhnlich
zorro[~]$ !:- ungewöhnlich
echo sehr ungewö
sehr ungewö
zorro[~]$ echo un!-2:$ verstümmelt
echo ungewöhnlich verstü
ungewöhnlich verstü
zorro[~]$ echo überaus !$
ü

This looks pretty much broken.
