These are my proposed descriptions for the various flavours for i386: [486_base] class: old x86 longclass: single-processor 486 or later x86
[686_base] class: modern x86 longclass: Intel Pentium Pro/II/III/4/4M/D/M, Xeon, Celeron, Core, Atom; AMD K6, Athlon, Duron, Opteron, Sempron, Turion, Phenom; Transmeta Efficeon; VIA C3 "Nehemiah" and C7 [686-bigmem_base] class: x86 with PAE longclass: Intel Pentium Pro/II/III/4/4M/D/M, Xeon, Celeron, Core, Atom; AMD Athlon, Duron, Opteron, Sempron, Turion, Phenom; Transmeta Efficeon; or VIA C7; 4-64G RAM [amd64_base] class: 64-bit x86 longclass: AMD64 and Intel 64 I believe these should make it clearer which flavour to choose. However, I think the template itself should be improved to allow for expanded explanation of the differences between flavours. Ben. -- Ben Hutchings Always try to do things in chronological order; it's less confusing that way.
