Hi, here's a patch to fix the build failure with gcc-4.4. Admitted, that uses the -fno-strict-aliasing CXXFLAGS hammer, but having looked a little bit at the source, I'm not too sure if this is a gcc-4.4 bug after all. (at least the error messages are misleading, since these don't specify the line of the real failure).
There's also another hunk in the patch which results from the newer eglibc changes (in conjuntion with -4.4, as in experimental), which have changed the signature for string functions. Cheers, Stefan.
