That doesn't make any sense. But, seeing the next, I assume the mails
came from a POP server and now in the “Local folders” INBOX.

Is something output on the console when doing that? Can you try starting
with a fresh evo (use evolution --force-shutdown before).

Maybe try to delete from the filesystem (in .evolution). Not really easy
to find, but you can use grep. I don't have much idea, and it looks that
it's an unreproducible issue, so I won't be able to help you more.
