Package: translate

My locale is [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I'm trying to use it for de-en
translations. In almost every case I get an error:
> translate -n akzeptabel
angemessen; akzeptabel; verniconv: illegal input sequence at position 28

> grep akzeptabel /usr/share/trans/de-en | iconv -t UTF8
gives the intended correct results...

> file /usr/share/trans/de-en
/usr/share/trans/de-en: UTF-8 Unicode C program text, with very long lines
