Fantastic - this bug gives me a work-around for https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xine-lib/+bug/216939. That had been driving me nuts when using totem-xine concurrently with rdesktop or vncviewer to a Windows box. Simply uncheck the box which looks like it should be checked. No need for network sniffs, no need to remove and clean the Alt key, no need to run a keyboard monitor, no need to swap the keyboard.
