Package: gnome-core Version: 1:2.26+0 Severity: normal I also got hit by this. I have compiz installed, just because I wanted to experiment with it in the past. After dist-upgrading my testing machine today, I suddenly got compiz as default window manager.
Why? I haven't asked for this! Also, I didn't find any menu option to switch this back to metacity. Please fix this. In the end, I wrote a .gnomerc which sets the WINDOW_MANAGER to metacity (as suggested). Not very user friendly, at least. Furthermore, my session was completely gone, I had to recreated it. That sucked. Why was it gone?? And even more: when my girlfriend logs in now, for some reason, gnome-settings-daemon fails to start. But when starting it again from a terminal, right after logging in, it works fine...?
