Hi Mike I just seen 521079. I'm responsible for the "incredible treewalking and searching in /sys" :-) I implemented it because of http:bugs.debian.org/481535.
I've never been happy with the code because it takes a relatively long time to run. I'm sure that there must be an easier way to find the device name associated with the ixp4xx-beeper driver.
