You can make them conflict with emacs23-lucid and emacs23-nox, I suppose
this will work.

However, there is a more compelling reason to add the Provides field.
With it, "aptitude full-upgrade" should be able to figure out that
emacs23 supersedes emacs23-gtk and install emacs23, something that it
does not do currently.  I had to manually install emacs23 instead.
