Package: git-buildpackage
Version: 0.4.56
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I am very reluctant to let git-buildpackage automatically tag a tree
after a successful build. This is a leftover from my svn days (which
have not really begun to end yet), and I regularly run some tests on
the actually built package before I allow the tag to enter the
repository.

With svn-buildpackage, this is possible with --svn-tag-only which will
only apply the tag to the repository, assuming that a previous build
has already built the package.

I'd like to have such an option for git-buildpackage as well. Maybe it
would be possible to give the user more fine-grained control over what
git-buildpackage does. Right now, it seems to be only possible to
switch the steps marked "optional" in the manpage's description
chapter off and on. I'd love to have more control.

Greetings
Marc
