Thanks for the patch. As mentioned in the previous email, the immediate problem seems to be fixed by lvm2 package reverting their policy on sym-links with version 2.02.51-3: newly created initrd images now contain the relevant config file. So, I've not tested the patch. I've emailed them lvm2 people (CC-ing you in) so you guys can coordinate any future change to the lvm2 sym-link policy. That should give you the opportunity to fully test any changes necessary, should they wish to move towards /dev/dm-* being the real devices in the future.
