Source: expect-tcl8.3
Version: 5.43.0-6
Severity: important

Hi!

expect-tck8.3 depends on really old tcl8.3 and tk8.3 which are planned
to be removed before squeeze release. So, I'd really like if
expect-tcl8.3 was removed from Debian.

Do I understand correctly that the only reason expect-tcl8.3 exists is
that expect fails to run some tests in GCC testing suite on hppa
architecture because of incompatibility with thread-enabled Tcl? If
it's correct then I'd suggest the following:

1) The default Tcl/Tk is becoming 8.5 (in 3 or 4 weeks)
2) The obsolete Tcl/Tk 8.4 is rebuilding without threads
3) You turn expect-tcl8.3 into expect-tcl8.4 and rebuild all packages
which build-depend on expect-tcl8.3 (I'm planning to move the expect
package to Tcl 8.5, so it'll likely to have the same problems on hppa)
4) expect-tcl8.3 is removed.

Cheers!
