Just because audacious2 causes the symptom does not mean it is a bug in Audacious. This is an ALSA bug. What is happening is that the HD-Audio driver is not providing a good default period_size/buffer_size. As most programs now days are not providing their own period_size/buffer_size, to give the audio device an opportunity to provide good defaults, this will show up in other programs.
