The package you link against is a dummy package:

hi...@sid:~ $ dpkg -L libsdl1.2debian
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/libsdl1.2debian
/usr/share/doc/libsdl1.2debian/BUGS
/usr/share/doc/libsdl1.2debian/changelog.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/libsdl1.2debian/CREDITS
/usr/share/doc/libsdl1.2debian/README-SDL.txt
/usr/share/doc/libsdl1.2debian/copyright
/usr/share/doc/libsdl1.2debian/README

Linking against it doesn't make any sense. I guess the next rebuild
will change the dep anyway. Further discussions regarding this should
be addressed to the SDL maintainers.
