Aaron, thanks a lot for your efforts. I have been looming for a new maintainer for this package for a year and found one a couple of weeks ago. He is just getting started with Debian packaging. I fixed the MySQL and NMU-safety bugs, plus support for kfreebsd-amd64, yesterday in our repository (bugs tagged as pending).
