If the TLS patch was breaking anything I would understand but the
patched qmail-smtpd provides 250-STARTTLS only if "control/
servercert.pem" is found, so no breakage or conf change at all for non-
TLS users.
Thank you for pointing me to SMTPS but it is not the same. SMTPS
requires the sysadmin to open port 465 and to create a new service
instance and configuration which uses stunnel. TLS requires no change
in system configuration : only one tcpserver process, the rest is done
by qmail. Many sysadmins would enjoy this simplicity provided by a
single package in Debian.
