Package: upgrade-reports Severity: normal
In a way, this is a duplicate of bug 306051, but I believe my problem is caused specifically by the upgrade process, so I'm filing a bug against upgrade-reports instead of reopening the bug. After upgrading from woody to sarge, xdvi began complaining every time: xdvi: Warning: /var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/ps2pk.map: entry for font "cmex7" on line 93 overrides previous entry. xdvi: Warning: /var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/ps2pk.map: entry for font "cmex8" on line 95 overrides previous entry. xdvi: Warning: /var/lib/texmf/dvips/config/ps2pk.map: entry for font "cmex9" on line 97 overrides previous entry. Bug 306051, http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=306051, describes the same behaviour after adding a new file to /etc/texmf/updmap.d. The original author solved the problem by running udpmap again, but it didn't work for me. The reason, I think, is that after the upgrade there are two versions of bsr-interpolated.map: $ locate bsr-interpolated.map /etc/texmf/dvips/bsr-interpolated.map /usr/share/texmf/dvips/tetex/bsr-interpolated.map I guess one was installed by woody, the other by sarge: ls -l /etc/texmf/dvips/bsr-interpolated.map /usr/share/texmf/dvips/tetex/bsr-interpolated.map -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1833 1999-11-24 07:19 /etc/texmf/dvips/bsr-interpolated.map -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2315 2002-12-25 23:14 /usr/share/texmf/dvips/tetex/bsr-interpolated.map I don't really understand the problem, because running updmap reports all files included, but only one bsr-interpolated.map is reported: #updmap [...] Scanning for MixedMap entries: using map file /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/bsr-interpolated.map' [...] However, the end result is still a ps2pk.map file with duplicate entries for cmex7, cmex8. My solution was to delete /etc/texmf/dvips/bsr-interpolated.map, run updmap again, and then I got a clean ps2pk.map. Now xdvi does not complain.
