I have tested Luke's patch and this package successfully builds with it on my machine. Though I cannot verify its "runtime" correctness (I do not know this library nor does its build have tests/checks). That being said - I think this patch is only fixing the symptoms of a different problem. Either upstream released a broken package or the debian packaging of its (build) dependencies are outdated/broken. I believe the latter is the case; considering that this package has a patch that includes a complete java file. ~Niels
