Package: ftp.debian.org diff is now a dummy package in unstable, so:
The extra priority tells the user and tools like debootstrap that it is not a package that one wants to install on a new system. The oldlibs section tells tools like deborphan that the package may be removed as soon as no other package depend on it. That way, the following commands apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade dpkg --purge `deborphan` install diffutils and then remove diff in a completely smooth way.
