Package: emacspeak Version: 29.0-3 Severity: wishlist Currently, emacspeak ships a .blurb file for espeak, which means the emacspeak configuration dialog lists espeak as a possibility. However, if I choose espeak, I end up with no speech synthesizer, since I am apparently supposed to compile it myself.
However, the dependencies of the linux-espeak speech server are all present in Debian main. Please compile it during package build and install it precompiled, so that it can be selected right away without manual user intervention. /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/servers/linux-espeak/ -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_AT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_AT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages emacspeak depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.27 Debian configuration management sy ii emacs22-gtk [emacs22] 22.3+1-1.1 The GNU Emacs editor (with GTK use ii emacsen-common 1.4.19 Common facilities for all emacsen ii make 3.81-6 An utility for Directing compilati ii perl 5.10.0-24 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii tcl8.4 8.4.19-3 Tcl (the Tool Command Language) v8 ii tclx8.4 8.4.0-2 Extended Tcl (TclX) - shared libra emacspeak recommends no packages.
