Package: cups Version: 1.3.11-2 Severity: grave While upgrading using aptitude (run through sudo), the upgrade process hung on my machine:
Setting up cups-bsd (1.3.11-2) ... Setting up cups (1.3.11-2) ... Installing new version of config file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf ... Installing new version of config file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.default ... Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/cups ... Starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsdPassword for root on printserver.company.invalid? After hitting RETURN, it resumed. cupsctl: Unauthorized . I also get that password prompt when I do sudo /etc/init.d/cups start The only place where that the only thing that references that "printserver.company.invalid" host is the ~/.cups/client.conf in my regular user's home directory. For an init script that should only care about system-level configuration, this is clearly wrong. Apparently, cups got found that file going through the HOME environment variable. After unsetting the variable, the prompt is no longer shown.
