Hi. I wanted to give an update here. It turns out that you don't want to install the .la files in heimdal-multidev because libtool really doesn't deal at all well with the .la and .so.x.y living in different directories.
So, I'm leaving the .la files in heimdal-dev and the .so and .a files in heimdal-multidev. What that means is that you cannot use libtool libraries if you are linking againstthe multidev packages.
