i consider url handling important as i use it alot. the url handling seems
defective if your webbrowser has already started.
part of the problem probably lies that
- i have iceweasal to open new tabs in its settings, instead of new windows..
(so no new windows under firefox are created)
->xchat i believe, is explicitly trying to open a new iceweasal, as i get a
firefox popup after clicking an xchat's url..
..(saying that firefox can't open a new window)
part of the solution i think lies in,
- preventing xchat from calling a webbrowser with 'opennewindow' equivalent
paramaters with the passing url address..
starting iceweasal before clicking on a url from xchat shouldn't be a user's
worries for using url handlers under xchat
as i always get caught in this trap :(
-i always tend have to restart iceweasal.. meaning i need to start iceweasal by
clicking a url under xchat.. then everything afterwards
works as expected. (meaning any urls i click on after in xchat, get opened up
in new tabs under iceweasal)
i'm not using any custom url handlers, but the default in which doing
right-mouse then 'open link in browser',
-i know you can also select 'copy select link' as a temporary solution and then
pasting that address but it's not practical :)
thanks for looking into this.. it's not a critical issue but somewhere between
a wishlist and important as it seems to be a bug trying to
use a newwindow parameter to the firefox process. (i have no problem testing
under a bash shell "firefox <url>" and a new tab opening up to the
already running firefox process)
