I don't think there's any trouble.  I know they recently added a plugin
API for GCC, and changed their license model so that copyleft extends to
plugins.

I think this amounts to:

  - Switch from LGPL to GPL.

  - Add a license exception [1] that allows using GCC to compile code that
    would otherwise violate the GPL (and linking it with libgcc, etc).

I could be missing some detail though, but I have no reason to believe they
extended the copyleft to programs compiled with GCC.
