Hi! I've seen exactly the same behaviour: a fresh installation of halevt, then the events, but no automounting, though my user was in the plugdev group.
I then logged out and logged in again (or did I reboot, don't know), and everything was working. In other words: I was able to use halevt as expected without changing any files. Could you verify my observation?
