to be honest I can reproduce your problem.. BUT: #a is a very common shortcut for floppies, this is more than a feature than a bug of mc. The subshell you get within mc is more than a normal shell and is enhanced with this feature. the downside is that such exotic links won't work anymore as they are recognised as shortcut for the floppies. Therefore this is in my eyes a wontfix, but I'll speak with my co-maint about this issue what he thinks about this.
