The dejavu fonts homepage
http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
says that these fonts are fonts in Bitstream Vera with added accents to
cover Latin Extended, and as I understad it, everything which is in
Bistream Vera is in DejaVu also. I just deleted Bistream Vera from my
system, and left only DejaVu, and all Western glyphs are still there,
and look the same as Bitstream Vera.

Please read the homepage and clarify. As I understand it, DejaVu is
drop-in replacement for Bitstream Vera, which adds some character
ranges, and make Bitstream Vera obsolete.
