gcc 4.0 is already in a usable state and is the default compiler in unstable. According to the C++ transition plan laid out by Matthias, you should be uploading ecasound2.2 ASAP. If there is some other "turmoil" that is grounds for delaying the ecasound2.2 upload, please discuss it on debian-devel. Some ecasound-using packages must also wait for qt-x11-free, but that should shake out soon now that xorg-x11 has been uploaded to unstable, and is still not a reason to delay fixing ecasound2.2. -- Steve Langasek postmodern programmer
