That's a quick response. :-) I tried with mutt, and have no trouble accessing for example Mail/sent. I tried subscribing as well, and that also worked. In fact, it provided me with a nice workaround: after I had subscribed in mutt, the folder became expandable in thunderbird, so I can use the subfolders from there as well now.
