Hi Petter Sorry that I was not able to test your patch before your debconf9 presentation.

With your patch on fresh lenny install, and I see the following messages on boot: /etc/rcS.d/S99zleds-stop-lvlS: line 15: /etc/init.d/leds: No such file or directory and /etc/rc2.d/S99zleds-stop-lvl2: line 15: /etc/init.d/leds: No such file or directory I think that "/etc/init.d/leds" should be "/etc/init.d/leds-...@lvl@" in files/initscripts/zleds-stop. When I make this change, the LEDs follow the correct pattern on boot, but the system emits six beeps when finished booting as opposed to three. This suggests that 'leds-lvl? stop' is being run one too many times at the end of the boot sequence. However, I ran out of time today to figure out why. To test the new nslu2-utils package, I applied your patch to Joey's source tree, and build and installed the patched version of nslu2-utils. When the new version is installed, the old leds_startup and zleds scripts, still exist. Should we remove these old scripts in the preinst script for the new package?
