is bug 521248 still a problem for you? IOW, does gbirthday start now?
I believe the problem you were facing and that I was unable to reproduce
had its root in some mucking around with the db libs (the maintainer
downgraded stuff). It may be that all is well and done now. If not,
please let me know. In any case, this does not look like an issue in
gbirthday itself.
