Package: ia32-apt-get Version: 22 Followup-For: Bug #537750
This is probably in part an aptitude problem. When it tries to resolve complex dependencies (on which apt usually gives up) it would get *grade happy and upgrade/downgrade unrelated packages that do not affect the issue at hand. However the issue is in part that separate update invocations to convert the package lists and to upgrade both apt and ia32-apt make it somewhat difficult to keep everything in sync. The last issue is that ia32-apt converts libc6 to libc6-i386 in such a way it cannot be installed causing these annoying errors when aptitude happens to select the converted package. I doubt that the libc6 in unstable-i386 was uninstallable to start with. The amd64 version of the package works fine, and so does the corresponding amd64 version of libc6.
