Package: mutt
Version: 1.5.18-6
Severity: important

Hello Maintainer,

for some weeks I have reported the malloc() bug which was related to
IMAP. Because mutt in Lenny has not gotten an update, mutt stays
crashing 5-6 times per day which has a greve impact.

If new mails arrive in my IMAP boxes (using over 100 folders) and setup
"mailboxes" all is working fine, BUT, if mut crash and I restart it,
mutt does not more find the unread messages on the imap SERVER.

OK, I SSHed into the IMAP server and see the NEW messages unchanged in
the folder->new which mean, mutt has not even tuched the folder, so my
courier-imap move it do folder->cur.

Since I use "header_cache", I asume, that there is a bug in it and mutt
has already saved the status into it even if I have not actualy touched
the mailfolder

I suggest, that is mutt startup, it set a flag or temporary file which
is removed if mutt exit correctly. If this file or whatever is present
at the next startup, mutt should check, whether the "header_cache" is
accurate.

Please forward this bug to upstream.

Note: I have 8 mailaccounts with over 6000 mailfolder in it and now I
had encountered, that I have more then 68.000 messages unread
there where most of the folders are rarely used.

Thanks, Greetings and nice Day/Evening
