Thanks for the report.
This bug is closed in the new upstream release : 0.5.8b and will be
closed as soon as 0.5.8b is packaged for debian.

In O.5.8b, backup manager uses the default cdrecord device by default
(without specifing a dev=foo statement), but the user can force a
specific device with a new configuration key : BM_BURNING_DEVFORCED.
