I can't reproduce it either on an AMD64, single core.
Tomorrow I will try it out with an Intel Core2 and see if that will
change anything.
I do notice Ghostscript 8.62; I've got 8.64 here.

I've put up the intermediate file (generated on lenny) that causes ghostscript to fail on [1].
