Package: libnss-ldap Version: 264-2+b1 Severity: normal
Coin,Using nss_srv_domain correctly fetch SRV records, and LDAP resolution works, but does not respect the priority field (and probably the weight field too), acting like if it was a global RR. When using priority to separate local servers and far-off fallback servers, which is common by-design usage, this renders this features totally unusuable for normal usage. I verified this problem after noticing extremely slow resolutions and checking which LDAP server was asked using tshark.
The meaning og the priority and weight fields is nicely explained here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRV_record
Note this is not a wish, as the feature is already implemented, but a bug, as the coded behavior does not respect standards.
