I did what Florian Grandel suggested on 9 Dec 2009. Switch Spell compiled and pidgin lists it as a plugin. It is however listed in grey and cannot be enabled. The message is "Error: undefined symbol: delete_aspell_dict_info_enumeration." There is a bug report for PluginPack2.3.0 which says (http://plugins.guifications.org/trac/ticket/511)
"switchspell depends on aspell. Your gtkspell is linked against enchant; this is not a working configuration currently. This should be fixed when we release Purple Plugin Pack 2.4.0." I am using pidgin 2.4.3-4lenny2.
