Hello! I plan on tackling the issue this weekend. I'm a regular user of Eclipse for my current job and my own projects. I think it's critical that Eclipse is properly updated and maintained (as was noted previously, several major versions have been missed).
Collaborators are welcome. If you've already started work on this, we should definitely talk. I will post my progress on Sunday. I don't feel comfortable changing the status of the bug yet. If I can demonstrate measurable progress, I will switch it to ITA. In addition to updating the package, I think an Eclipse policy should be created (either as a section in the existing Java policy or as a stand alone document). However, that's something to work on after progress on packaging as been made.
