Package: gnome-power-manager Version: 2.24.4-2 Severity: important gnome-power-manager does not trust or obey me, the computer user. It says it blocks my actions by "policy".
How to reproduce: 1. Start playing a song in rhythmbox (0.12.1-1) 2 alt. Press the power button (aliased to Suspend in gnome-power-manager) 2 alt. Select Shut Down -> then Suspend from the GNOME menu 2 alt. Close the laptop lid What happens: Gnome-power-manager tells me my music player has stopped this action by policy. If my laptop lid is closed, I don't see this warning. I still hear the music though. What should happen: The computer should obey my wishes. Suspend. Stop playing music if it has to. What if a quiet part of some extra track is playing? I close the lid? The computer is not going to sleep and I'm not going to notice! Does the same thing happen when playing some movie in the background with muted sound? I don't want my computer to die from overheating when closed. Gnome-power-manager should work with me here; A fundamental rule for any free software project is to put the user in control. -- Package-specific info: Distro version: squeeze/sid Kernel version: 2.6.27-rc8fastboot g-p-m version: 2.24.4 HAL version: 0.5.12 System manufacturer: missing System version: missing System product: missing AC adapter present: yes Battery present: yes Laptop panel present: yes CPU scaling present: yes Battery Information: battery.charge_level.current = 875 (0x36b) (int) battery.charge_level.design = 1075 (0x433) (int) battery.charge_level.last_full = 1075 (0x433) (int) battery.charge_level.percentage = 81 (0x51) (int) battery.charge_level.rate = 417 (0x1a1) (int) battery.is_rechargeable = true (bool) battery.present = true (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_charging = true (bool) battery.rechargeable.is_discharging = false (bool) battery.remaining_time = 1726 (0x6be) (int) battery.technology = 'unknown' (string) battery.type = 'primary' (string) GNOME Power Manager Process Information: HAL Process Information: 104 1709 0.0 0.5 8460 4024 ?
