Have you enabled battery polling ?
laptop-mode will only log to syslog during an event (like AC => Battery, 
Batter => AC). The only other logging message can be from battery polling.

And Do you have verbose mode enabled (check /etc/laptop-mode/laptop-mode.conf) 
?
If yes, does disabling it strip most information ?

Currently laptop-mode is logging messages with 3 types, MSG, ERR, VERBOSE.
Most of the debug type messages are tagged as VERBOSE.
