FWIW, the problems started when I upgraded the
system running apt-cacher to Lenny. Before that
everything was running fine on etch. (Excepting the
warning messages:
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at
/usr/share/apt-cacher/apt-cacher-lib.pl line 136, <$listpipe> line 1161.
but that is a different bug that the Lenny upgrade was
supposed to have fixed. I assume it's fixed....)
