Hello. I apologize for taking over six months to respond to this bug
report. I usually try to reply right away. Your bug report points to
hard-coded paths to libraries in the dependency_libs line in the .la
file. I understand the problem and why it is a problem, but I don't
know what to do about it. Those files are generated by libtool with
information provided by automake for the most part. I notice that this
problem is quite prevalent with .la files in my /usr/lib directory, so I
imagine there must be many other bug reports of this type. Do you have
any specific suggestions as to how to resolve it? I could do some
post-build thing in my debian/rules to clean it up, but before I go down
that path, I'd like to know whether there is a known, standard approach
or even whether this is really a libtool or automake issue more than a
tiff issue. Thanks.
