Bug#534512: regression: pieces have lost borders and become transparent

Hi,

with the recent version bump of xboard from 4.2.7-9 -> 4.4.0~alpha6-1,
the pieces have lost their borders and become transparent.  While it may
be debatable if transparency is desired, I feel that the missing borders
render the white pieces incredibly ugly.  See the attached screenshots
for comparison of the old and the new rendering.

Given that one reason why I still use the rather ancient xboard is its
really wonderful piece and board design, I'm filing this bug as
important.  Feel free to downgrade if you think that mere uglyness
doesn't qualify for that.
