Package: module-init-tools
Version: 3.2-pre1-2
Severity: normal

modprobe skips /etc/modprobe.d entirely if /etc/modprobe.conf is
present. This had me confused for a long while, until I actually looked
at the source. Part of this is due to the fact that the manpage is not
very explicit about this behavior. This should probably be fixed
upstream.
