Package: gnome-terminal Version: 2.26.2-1 Severity: normal I have the same problem, namely, the gconf daemon is not started, so gnome-terminal won't start. I have noticed that one program in particular out of all those I usually run seems to solve this problem--gnucash, when started first, allows the gnome-terminal to go ahead and open normally.
