Package: foomatic-db Version: 20090508-1 Severity: important Justification: fails to build from source
Three build problems: 1) foomatic-db may fail to build if CDPATH is set; the cwd line printed by cd when CDPATH is set breaks the tar pipe used to populate the db/source directory. debian/rules should probably sanitize / clear CDPATH. 2) The Makefile incorrectly sets DESTDIR to /. However, it sets LIBDIR et al to contain the real DESTDIR, so this is generally not a problem... 3) ...unless the hp-ppd package is installed, since that creates a /usr/share/cups/model directory, which causes foomatic-db's configure to set CUPS_PPDS, which causes the ln command at the bottom of the install-db section to try and fail (without root perms) to create a symlink at /usr/share/cups/models/foomatic-db-ppds. Passing --disable-ppds-to-cups is a workaround for problem #3. -- System Information: Debian Release: squeeze/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-2-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash foomatic-db depends on no packages.
